The Vollrath Company

The Vollrath Company, founded in 1874, produced cookware and restaurant supplies for more than 100 years.

Mid-America Distribution

Upon completing college in 1965, Don started Mid-America Distribution and provided an opportunity for individuals to start his or her own home based business.

New Era is Founded

In 1982, Donald Henn purchased the consumer division of The Vollrath Company and established the New Era Cookware Company. Since it was established, New Era has continued to be an innovator within the kitchenware industry.

New Era Expands

Beginning in 1983, New Era set out to become known worldwide for its superior cookware. Since then, New Era cookware has been sold in places such as: the Philippines, Europe, South America, Central America, Middle East, Asia, and more.

Innovation at Work

Shortly after its founding, New Era was setting new industry standards beginning in the mid 1980's. New Era introduced heavier covers for a better seal and then went on to be one of the few companies to premier a new 5-ply design. The 5-ply was a significant step forward for the cooking industry as it conducted heat more efficiently and was induction ready.

A Huge Step Forward

The first of its kind: 7-ply Surgical Steel Multi-ply Cookware. New Era's 7-ply Surgical Steel cookware led the industry with unprecedented efficiency, durability, and adaptability. This new design conducts heat better, works with all heat sources whether its gas, electric, or induction, and is guaranteed to last a lifetime.

The Whistle System

New Era's trend of innovation did not end in the 1980's as it introduced a new feature in 1990. The whistle system was, and still is, a useful feature that uses steam to notify you when your food has reached the proper temperature.

Going Green

In 2007 New Era moved into its new factory in Clarksville, TN. The new factory site consists of a 63,000 square foot building located on 18½ acres of the former Gemtron Corporation and, in an effort to be more environmentally friendly, New Era boosted the efficiency of their machines and installed a brand new, state-of-the-art chemical-free washing system.

Hammer Stahl

When New Era acquired Hammer Stahl Cutlery in 2008 they had one goal in mind: to create a world class brand synonymous with exceptional quality, performance, and value. Hammer Stahl's presence has grown significantly in the last 3 years and has been recognized by celebrity chefs and home cooks alike as a premier knife that looks and performs fantastically.

Cooking Healthier

2009 was another big year for New Era as it unveiled the Vita-Seal Whistle System. Its design contains three important features into one element: a whistle to notify you when your food has reached the proper cooking temperature, a vent which allows you to release vapor without whistling, and a lock that allows you to secure moisture, nutrients, and flavor inside.

What We're Up to Now:

In 2013, New Era began developing a brand new retail line that features a riveted handle paired with the renowned 7-ply Surgical Steel components. Since its launch in 2015, New Era has been excited and proud to be one of the few companies to offer such an incredible product.

Our Future

Since being established in 1982, New Era has been an innovator in the cookware industry and it plans to continue crafting the highest quality and most advanced cookware available.
